Hydration: A key to high performance

In this posting, we focus on the often neglected aspect to achieve optimum performance, that is hydration.  At the Round 2 of the SIC Ninja 250R training on June 1st and 2nd, 2013,  our consultant dietitan and nutritionist, Ms Indra Rajaratnam shared with the 20 participants of the Championship the need to have hydration strategy on a regular basis, 24hrs before the race, 2 hrs before the race and after the race.

In this video, Ms Indra explains “Dehydartion ccurs when the body loses more water than is taken in. For the human brain to function well it has to be properly oxygenated.  During demanding sports like motor racing, the body may lose up to 2% (or anywhere between 2 to 4 litres)  of water and this  loss has proven to impair performance, concentration and alertness of the rider.”
